Mending in Paradise |

Prisons are places containing a concentration of evil. That
is why they exist: to separate society from its offenders.
Many women and men are involved in recovery programs within
the prison system and have made progress toward replacing
despair, hopelessness, fear and anger with hope. Many of these individuals come out of prison without a support system to reintegrate them effectively into society. Many of the root causes of their incarceration still exist. We want the wandering soul to be stabilized and reintegrated into society. We want to see people become independent, ending the lifestyle of dependency. The dictionary defines "mend" as follows: to free from faults or defects; to improve in manners or morals; or to put into good shape or working order again. With this in mind, River of Life Mission is developing a women's residential program. The program will be eighteen to twenty four months in duration and will have the following objectives.
Another key component of the program will be the recruitment of mentors (from the community) that will form a relationship with the women while they are in the program. The goal would be for that relationship to continue once the program is complete. |
