Your Gift Made Room for All Three
Because you give, dignity gets a fresh start.
Meet Charlene. She’s a longtime believer who shows up at 10 - 12 HUB events a month with scissors, capes, Bibles, and a gentle spirit. She sets out extra chairs on purpose - inviting guests to sit, listen, share a hot meal, and enjoy conversation while she works.
Folks line up. She’s usually the first to arrive and the last to pack up.
Thank you for putting a tent over her station and a power box to charge her clippers. Thank you for every hot meal, hygiene pack, and Bible you helped stock so she can give more than a haircut.
Charlene’s chair isn’t just about looking clean. It’s about being known. She remembers names. She prays when the story gets heavy. One young man she cared for landed in jail, then chose a Christ-centered program when he got out. Another guest walked out of the HUB grinning after his first cut in years - and started showing up at church and prayer nights. Soil tilled. Hearts softened. Hope planted.
She even tackles the hard stuff - like lice - when needed. Still, she can’t (and shouldn’t) do it alone. We need more moments like this, and more “Charlenes” to create them.
If you’ve given before, thank you. You made these moments possible. Would you consider making this kindness a regular part of your life? Even $20 or $50 per month ensures someone can recharge, not just their phone, but their hope and dignity.
Becoming a monthly partner lets Charlene (and the entire HUBS team) confidently show up week after week, knowing resources will be there. Your steady support turns compassion into lasting change.
If a monthly commitment isn’t possible right now, we invite you to continue praying or to make a one-time gift of any size. Every act of generosity matters deeply.
Thank you for being part of this story.
Let’s keep the chair open. With Hope, River of Life Mission Team
